“Introducing Digital Humanities Work to Undergraduates: An Overview” - Rhetorical Precis and Presentation

Rhetorical Precis Adeline Koh, in her article “Introducing Digital Humanities Work to Undergraduates: An Overview” (2014), claims that digital humanities projects are not limited to well-funded, research institutions, and suggests specific projects that can be used at institutions that focus primarily on undergraduate education. More Thoughts About The Final Project

I've been thinking about my final project a lot lately. And, as I've mentioned before, I'm working with John Steinbeck and his biographical and non-fiction works. I haven't been able to find many digital projects specifically about Steinbeck, and I was a little worried that I might not have a clear enough idea of exactly what I want to do. I've mentioned before that I'm going back and forth between the ideas of a timeline project or a mapping project. In class, Katie shared a really great timeline project, the Victorian Women Writers Project. I was super excited to see this project because it was really similar to the timeline ideas I have for my Steinbeck project. I spent a little time looking around this website and I was thinking about how I could adapt this to my own ideas. Have QR codes faded away? Or am I just not noticing them anymore?

Just a random thought while I was reading... In "Dimensions" Jones spends a lot of time talking about QR codes. He states, "As I write this, QR codes show no signs yet of fading away" (41). After reading this statement, I immediately flipped to the front of the book to see when it was published. Turns out, it was published in 2014. I don't know about anyone else, but I definitely feel like QR codes have somewhat faded away at this point in 2019. I still see them from time to time, but I don't feel like I'm just bombarded with them all the time anymore. A few years ago I felt like they were EVERYWHERE! Maybe I've become desensitized to them and I'm just not noticing them as much. We all know how quickly technology develops and how quickly technology can become outdated.
